B block: 8:55 – 10:22 Grade 10 cohort math

Please hand out folders (in a staples box at the back, plastic and colourful, EA’s canhelp out with names).

Student mini-whiteboard activity: Open this fraction board. Click ‘start’ until it says ‘50%’. Ask the students to write down all the fractions they see that are equivalent to 50%. When successful, do this again but with 25%. Any strategy is fine. Click on the board with their answers.

Numeracy activity (pdf): 2026 10CHT Percentages Numeracy Numeracy #2 is on the shelves behind the teacher’s desk. Please hand out and allow 10 minutes for completion then go through the answers with them. This is meant to be a no-calculator activity. I suggest writing $1 as $1.00 or 100 cents to help. They can put their finished work in their plastic folder.

Please offer a 5 – 10 minute classroom break.

Lesson (pdf): GRADE 10 COHORT MATH 2026 spring please work through page 4 with the students. Page 5 please decide to ask them to do this independently or work throught it with them. They can continue with page 6 if there’s time.

  3. Please review transforming fractions from improper to mixed, mixed to improper. You can use this video if you like.

4. Students should complete pages 5, 6, 7,8.

5. At 11:25, stop the class and hand out numeracy #2. Blank:Grade 9 Number numeracy #2 I printed and copied it from home, it should be in the photocopy room.
