Multiply with the Number Line

Practice skip counting on the number line!

Here are three applets to help you learn multiples of 2 to 9. The first applet shows the full multiplication table up to the tenth multiple.

Skip counting and the first ten multiples of four

The second shows all but three numbers – your job is to figure out the missing numbers.

Skip counting and the first ten multiples of four with three missing numbers

The third shows no numbers and asks you to figure out two of the missing numbers.

Skip counting the multiples of four, no numbers showing

This exercise is a good one to use mini whiteboards if you have them.

1. Check the box for the multiplication table you’re working on. Adjust the speed to suit!

2. Practice skip counting along the number line. In this applet, three numbers are missing. Figure out what’s in these three empty circles:

3. Practice skip counting along the number line. There are no numbers on this number line. Visualize the numbers as the ball hops along. What are the numbers in the two empty circles?
