Volume of Revolution Visual

A ‘volume of revolution’ is the calculation to compute the volume of a solid formed when a curve is rotated around an axis over a specified domain.

In the following applet, the function f is defined on the domain a \leq x \leq b.

Use the angle alpha to rotate the curve 360 degrees around the x axis.

These other functions work well on the axes given:

\sqrt{x} (type in sqrt(x) to the input box)

\sqrt{x+2}

\sin(x)+3

2\sin(x)

2\sin(x)+1
